Dead Until Dark - We meet Sookie Stackhouse, a young telepathic waitress from Bon Temps, Louisiana, and her world, an alternate history where vampires, shapeshifters and other supernatual beings secretly coexist with humans. Sookie begins a romantic entanglement with her vampire neighbor and is faced with a series of murders in town.
Living Dead in Dallas - Follows the adventures of telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse of Bon Temps, Louisiana as she is employed by Dallas vampires to use her telepathy to help find their lost companion. Sookie agrees to help investigate the whereabouts of the missing vampire on one condition: any humans found to be involved must be turned over to human law enforcement rather than subjected to vampire justice. In Dallas Sookie Stackhouse has her first encounter with the anti-vampire organization "The Fellowship of the Sun", as well as meeting and learning of the existence of werewolves.
Club Dead - When telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse's vampire boyfriend Bill Compton is kidnapped on a secret project for the vampire queen of Louisiana, Sookie sets out to investigate, with the help of handsome Shreveport werewolf Alcide Herveaux, Viking vampire Eric Northman, and the vampire Bubba.
Dead to the World - Sookie's luck has taken a new turn for the worse. Vampire Bill runs off to Peru to do research. In his place, Sookie is stuck with Eric who appears out of thin air running down a country road shirtless and shoeless, with no memory of who he is or what he does. Coincidentally, Sookie's brother Jason goes missing. Less coincidentally, but more ominously, a coven of witches (who also happen to be shape-shifters and vampire blood addicts) comes rolling into the nearest big city, looking for trouble
Dead as a Doornail - Pits vampires, were-creatures, shifters and one fairy godmother against a sniper with an apparent aversion to nonhumans. As if trying to discover who's behind the shootings isn't enough, the telepathic cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has to cope with a few other distractions: her sexy "Were" friend, Alcide Herveaux, needs her help in his father's bid to become the next leader of the local werewolf pack; her boss, Sam Merlotte, gets shot; her house partly burns down; and what's she to do about the handsome vampire bartender who dresses as a pirate at Sam's place?
Definitely Dead Sookie has a new man, weretiger Quinn, in the picture, but on their first date, two were-people attack them. Sookie isn't sure whether she or Quinn was the target, but is soon distracted by a more pressing problem. Cousin Hadley, a vampire, has been murdered, and Sookie has inherited her apartment, meaning she has to go to New Orleans to uncover the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death and meet with Hadley's lover, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana herself. Sookie and Amelia Broadway, Hadley's landlady and a pretty cool witch, immediately discover a mess of trouble left behind in Hadley's closet.
All Together Dead - After being betrayed by her lover, Sookie Stackhouse attends an all-important central U.S. Vampire Summit on the shores of Lake Michigan as a "human geiger counter" for Sophie-Anne Leclerq, Vampire Queen of Louisiana and who will be tried during the event for murder. The queen is in a precarious position, her power base weakened by hurricane damage to New Orleans. And there are some vamps who would like to finish what nature started. Sookie knows the queen is innocent, but she is hardly prepared for other shocking murders, not to mention protests by the Fellowship of the Sun, a right-wing anti-vampire movement. Sookie's bond with two other men deepens but at a price.
From Dead to Worse - Having barely survived a catastrophic vampire explosion, Sookie's back at work in Bon Temps, La., serving vintage blood and waiting tables at Merlotte's, a vampire bar. Participating in a friend's wedding and fending off the advances of an ex-lover and a blood-bonded pal, leaves Sookie chafing over the recent lack of communication from Quinn. When a violent Were power struggle erupts as Vegas vampires attempt to take over Louisiana, Sookie dives into the middle of it, determined to help her shape-changing, blood-drinking friends. Many fun twists, most significantly Sookie's meeting with her fae great-grandfather, Niall Brigant, which paves the way for a shock ending that will delight longtime fans.
Dead and Gone - Like the vampires before them, the Weres are about to reveal themselves to humanity. While the initial announcement seems to go over smoothly, tragedy strikes when another murder occurs and Jason is the prime suspect, but Sookie has even bigger problems to deal with when she learns that a vicious fairy prince is determined to kill her. Darker and more ominous than earlier entries in the series.
